The Angels at Paleyfest 2026

Kate Jackson, Jaclyn Smith and Cheryl Ladd
at PaleyFest LA 2026 (held last April 6)
celebrating Charlie's Angels 50th Anniversary

2026 marks the 50th anniversary of Charlie's Angels TOS (The Original Series). It took a lot of convincing from executive producers Aaron Spelling and Leonard Goldberg to get the pilot made and for it to be aired on the ABC network in March 21, 1976. It was such an instant hit that it baffled everyone at the network; so the pilot was re-aired and got the same reception. It was then given the green light to continue as a series - and what a phenomenal series it was. It ran from September 22, 1976 to June 24, 1981 - for five fabulous seasons. Initially, it starred three gorgeous actresses as the Angels... Kate Jackson as the smart no-nonsense Sabrina Duncan, Farrah Fawcett as the sporty California girl Jill Munroe, and Jaclyn Smith as the sultry and mysterious Kelly Garrett. But as the series progressed, three more gorgeous Angels joined the series... Cheryl Ladd as the cute and sexy girl-next-door Kris Munroe, Shelley Hack as the classy intellectual Tiffany Welles, and Tanya Roberts as the street-smart tigress Julie Rogers. All the Angels were  bright, independent, and absolutely beautiful.

sigh...

Last April 6,2026, Charlie's Angels 50th Anniversary was celebrated at PaleyFest LA 2026. The event was held in Hollywood, California. Kate Jackson, Jaclyn Smith and Cheryl Ladd appeared in front of a packed crowd at the Dolby Theatre... in a Q&A session moderated by KABC-TV entertainment reporter George Pennacchio. Kate, Jaclyn and Cheryl shared their stories about the show's inception and legacy, their favorite moments and memories. The event, which publicity exec Jay Schwartz helped organize with PaleyFest, was a resounding success and started with a highlight reel from the series which featured Kate, Jaclyn and Cheryl, as well as Farrah Fawcett, Tanya Roberts and Shelley Hack, to the delight of the audience. The momentous event was a big highlight at PaleyFest LA 2026... it was just a shame that Shelley Hack, the other living Angel, was not in attendance. Not that seeing Kate, Jaclyn and Cheryl together again after all these years wasn't awesome already... but it would have been phenomenal of Shelley was also there, sharing her stories and her memories. What a mind-blowing event that would have been for fans.

Kate, Jaclyn and Cheryl will also be recognized at the Paley Honors Spring Gala which will be held at The Plaza hotel in New York City on May 14, 2026. Maybe Shelley, who now resides in Connecticut, can attend the event this time, as she is now much closer to the venue. Here's hoping Paley Honors Spring Gala would consider inviting Shelley and that Shelley would accept their invitation. Praying this would happen ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™ Shelley Hack fans would be beyond thrilled and over the moon to see her there with Kate, Jaclyn and Cheryl. Plus, it would be a rare event in Charlie's Angels history ๐Ÿ˜

Kicks in 1985

Shelley was one busy actress in the 1980s. She appeared in various stage and screen (big and small) productions. In 1985, she appeared in the TV movie Kicks with soap superstar Anthony Geary. The movie was about a San Francisco college teacher, Maggie (Shelley), who had a penchant for living on the edge and engaging in dangerous, life-threatening activities. She meets her match in mysterious millionaire Martin Cheevers (Geary) who takes her on a ride of her life - from one dangerous thrill to another. Eventually, the thrill becomes too dangerous and Maggie finds herself in peril. Tom Mason played Caleb, Maggie's boyfriend; and his chemistry with Shelley was so evident that it wasn't surprising he was cast as Mike Brennan, Jackie's husband, in Shelley's TV series Jack and Mike a year later.

By August 1983, Shelley had become an established Hollywood star. She had received critical praise for her work on stage and had a Martin Scorsese film under her belt (where she worked opposite Robert De Niro). She had also finished a couple of TV movies with respected Hollywood veterans George Segal and Dick Van Dyke. Her latest TV series was to premiere that October. So Shelley would regularly appear on magazines and newspapers at the time. In August 1983, she appeared on the pages of Good Housekeeping magazine, in a spread called "29 All-Star Hairstyles: Modeled by Celebrities and Their Sisters." Shelley appeared with her youngest sister, Babe, in the spread sporting the latest hairstyles. (For more, check out: Shelley and Babe) One hairstyle Shelley sported was the "Casual Chic." Shorter hair for women was the height of chic during the early 1980s and that included the bob cut. Whether slicked-back (ala Zoรซ Tamerlis in Angel of Vengeance) or tousled (ala early Madonna) or smother (ala Molly Ringwald), the bob was a popular look. Shelley wore various lengths and versions of the bob throughout the 1980s, and was, of course, was always very chic.

Look-In magazine was a kiddie/teen UK magazine that featured two-page comic/picture strips of the most popular television shows of the era. Subtitled as "The Junior TV Times," its first issue came out in 1971 and its final issue came out in 1994. Many popular American TV series were featured in the mag including Kung Fu, The Six Million Dollar Man, The Bionic Woman, CHiPs, Battlestar Galactica, Mork and Mindy... and, of course, Charlie's Angels.

From 1979 to 1980, during the airing of the 4th season of Charlie's Angels, Shelley's Tiffany Welles character was featured in the mag's Charlie's Angels comic/picture strip. Along with her co-Angels Kelly Garrett (Jaclyn Smith) and Kris Munroe (Cheryl Ladd), Tiffany solved cases for Charlie for several issues, two pages a week. Her first case debuted on November of 1979 and her final case ended on October of 1980. The mag also featured occasional writeups about Shelley as well as posters of her and the Angel team of that season.

the Charlie T-Shirt and Scarf promo items, 1977

Shelley was THE quintessential Charlie Girl and appeared in many, many ads for the brand. In 1976, she was hand-picked to represent the Revlon Charlie brand, as she was the embodiment the brand's ideal – gorgeous, sexy and young. In 1977, she appeared in a newspaper ad for Charlie promoting "Charlie's Put-Ons." It was a promo that offered customers a chance to purchase the Charlie T-Shirt and Scarf combo (valued at $20.00) for just $6.00 with any $5.00 or more purchase from the Charlie collection. The light blue T-shirt came in sizes S-M-L and had the Charlie logo in deep blue printed on the left sleeve. The long scarf had blue, yellow and white stripes. Of course, Shelley looked fab in both of them.

Shelley was a working actress in the 1980s. She had gained Hollywood stardom in 1979 when she was cast as Tiffany Welles in Charlie's Angels. By the 1980s, she was appearing on various stage, TV, and the big screen projects; and she was often spotted and captured by the paparazzi at events around Hollywood. She was also featured in magazines and tabloids around the world. In April of 1985, she appeared on the pages of The Australian Women's Weekly magazine. In the fashion section called "What People are Wearing Overseas... That's Casual," she was mentioned as one of the Hollywood stars who was unafraid of dressing down. The other stars mentioned were Angie Dickinson (TVs Police Woman), Amy Irving (The Fury), and Patricia McPherson (from TVs Knight Rider). Shelley was pictured wearing an oversized sweater with a colorful print of an eagle on the chest. She actually wore it over a pair of light-wash gray jeans tucked into a pair of red boots (which matched the red on the eagle print). The pic was taken on January of that year when Shelley attended the premiere of The Falcon and the Snowman at the DGA Theatre in West Hollywood. She attended the premiere with director Harry Winer, her future hubby.

Shelley appeared on many Simplicity pattern catalogs, brochures and packaging during the 1960s and 1970s. The Simplicity Pattern Company is the leading manufacturer of sewing patterns and sewing pattern guides which are distributed throughout the world. They have been manufacturing sewing patterns since 1927 and have allowed fashionistas on a budget and sewing aficionados to create clothes in a reliable manner. In 1971, she appeared on the cover of Simplicity Fashion And News Report For The Clothing Teacher, the fall issue. The 12-page pamphlet featured patterns, tips, and ideas for creating wardrobe pieces, bags, and much more... using various fabrics. On the cover, Shelley was pictured wearing Simplicity pattern number 9567, a tunic and hotpants ensemble. The tunic had a low U-shaped neckline, slits in the side seams and a back zipper. The hotpants had a back belt that buttoned to the front, a back zipper and an elastic waistline casing. A white rib knit long-sleeved turtleneck top, black leggings and matching lace-up heeled pumps finished her look. And Shelley looked chic and fabulous.

The fans' fascination for Charlie's Angels never seems to end. Even though the TV series went off the air in 1981, fans have still been craving for more Angel info and pics. Countless things have been written about all the Angels during the run of the series and after the series ended. And as the years went by, even more writeups about the goings-on in each of the Angels lives have been written about. (Check out a few examples at: An Angels Catch Up 1, An Angels Catch Up 2, and An Angels Catch Up 3) The latest event that will surely be written about will be the Charlie's Angels 50th Anniversary Celebration at PaleyFest LA 2026 this coming April 6, 2026. Kate Jackson, Jaclyn Smith, and Cheryl Ladd will be in attendance. Still hoping that Shelley Hack will be there to celebrate with them as well.

Shelley was among the celebrities who participated in the hour-long celebrity special released in 1990, Celebrity Guide to Wine. Spago restaurant maรฎtre d' Bernard Erpicum hosted the special and many celebrities/stars of the era participated in the educational video. Celebrity Guide to Wine was a fun and practical guide to everything about wine. It answered questions many people had regarding the drinking and serving of wine, as well as debunked some of the myths and the rules on the subject. Aside from Shelley, Dudley Moore, Whoopi Goldberg, Herbie Hancock, Kelly Le Brock, Robert Loggia, Steven Seagal, and Peter Weller joined in on the fun as well. Norm Lenzer was the narrator. It was released in both VHS and LaserDisc formats.

In 1977, she appeared in a newspaper ad for Charlie called "Charlie Body Language." It was for a promo for Charlie Body Silk, Charlie's body lotion that had that familiar Charlie fragrance as it softened dry skin all over the body. The 8-ounce container came with its own convenient pump and was both handy and ready-to-use. Valued at $8, it was available for just $2.75 for any $5.00 purchase from the Charlie collection. Shelley became Angel no. 5 in 1979 when she joined the cast of Charlie's Angels. Her character was Tiffany Welles, a classy Boston-bred policewoman who was the daughter of one of Charlie's oldest friends. She was chosen from among a bevy of beautiful actresses which included Priscilla Presley, Kim Basinger, Michelle Pfeiffer, Connie Sellecca and Shari Belafonte. In May of 1979, Bond Girl Barbara Bach was announced as the newest Angel. But it was quickly retracted and, by late-May of that year, Shelley was announced as Charlie's newest Angel. The newest heavenly recruit came with the approval of not just executive producers Aaron Spelling and Leonard Goldberg but also of incumbent Angels Jaclyn Smith and Cheryl Ladd.

Shelley appeared in an ad for Tampax tampons in the early 1970s. The ad showed Shelley in various sporting activities (surfing, camping, horseback riding) and in a very girly activity (putting on makeup). It showed consumers that with Tampax, girls could still lead an active lifestyle. Shelley appeared in sidebar ads for Tampax in 1970 as well. One of them had the tag line "A Tip for the Camping Trip" and featured Shelley putting up a tent, setting up camp and enjoying nature. She was the embodiment of the modern girl - self-confident, a good conversationalist, and she knows what's right for her. And of course, she used Tampax. And Shelley was adorable in the ad.

Other cast members included David Doyle as John Bosley, Charlie's associate and the Angels' link to Charlie... and John Forsythe as the voice of Charles "Charlie" Townsend himself, the Angels' and Bosley's big boss (who was not credited for his role to add mystery to the character). The pilot included David Ogden Stiers as Scott Woodville, the Angels' facilitator and chief backup as well as Bosley's superior (but the character was dropped after the pilot episode to play up the self-reliance and sisterhood of the Angels during the planning and execution of their missions). A couple of recurring characters were Michael Bell as Bill Duncan, Sabrina's policeman ex-husband in season 1... and Soon-tek Oh as Lieutenant Torres of the Oahu Police Department in season 5. Other notable characters were John Agar as Colonel Blaylock, Sabrina's father who appeared in season 1 (hence, implying that Sabrina's maiden name was Sabrina Blaylock)... and Vic Morrow as Lieutenant Harry Stearns, Julie's mentor in season 5.

In 1979, Shelley was proclaimed as Charlie's newest Angel and she became a Hollywood superstar virtually overnight. "I couldn't believe it. What was I doing in the evening news?" Shelley exclaimed, surprised. Her co-Angel Jaclyn Smith said, "I feel good about her. I think the three of us are going to get along great." Her other co-Angel Cheryl Ladd said, "Shelley seemed like a doll and we were going to have a lot of fun working together." Her first episode was a cross-over between Charlie's Angels and another hit TV show The Love Boat; and it was partly filmed in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. "When I got off the plane, there were maybe eight million paparazzi. I looked around for Sophia Loren. It was for me. I couldn't believe it," Shelley said when they arrived in St. Thomas. The paparazzi had a field day when the show was filming in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Many pics of the Angels and their guest stars were taken during filming.

Shelley appeared in many ads during her tenure as a Supermodel in the 1970s. In 1972, she appeared in an ad for Peck & Peck with the tagline "Wool. It's got Life. Naturally. Peck & Peck promises." Peck & Peck was a renowned New York-based retailer of women's apparel. It was founded in 1888 and was known for high-quality, classic, and professional women's wear, which included blazers, cardigans, and tailored pants. In the 1972 ad, Shelley modeled a hooded coat of 100 percent wool plush by Warshaw Woolens for Peck & Peck. The fabulous coat came in camel and rust - and was a "Fashion selection by the American Wool Council." And Shelley made the stylish coat look even more fabulous.

Last February 10, Closer reported that Jaclyn Smith and Cheryl Ladd had to talk Kate Jackson into joining them at PaleyFest LA 2026. With that in mind, wouldn't it be an even bigger blast if Shelley Hack (the only other living Angel from the original series) joined Kate, Jaclyn and Cheryl as well? Wouldn't it be a phenomenal event if Charlie's four living Angels were all on stage, facing their fans, answering all their questions? Wouldn't that be one unforgettable (and a definitely historically significant) Angel event for all the Charlie's Angels fans around the world? Wouldn't that be just heavenly? Jaclyn Smith and Cheryl Ladd, could you also talk Shelley into joining you three for this historic reunion? Please? (For more, check out: Charlie's Angels 50th)

Shelley was already famous before she was cast as Tiffany Welles in the phenomenal hit TV series Charlie's Angels in 1979. It could be made with long or short sleeves. Both the skirt and the pants had back zippers and elastic waist casings. Shelley wore the short-sleeved top with the skirt. She finished her look with a pair of open-toed, high-heeled sandals and an oversized clutch bag. She accessorized her look with an earring, bracelet and ring set and a matching scarf around her neck. And Shelley looked chic, fab and just perfect.
