After her stint as Tiffany Welles on Charlie's Angels, Shelley made a risky career move and decided to tackle theater. Along with Meredith Baxter-Birney and Annette O'Toole, she headlined the play Vanities by Jack Heifner. Staged at the Westside Playhouse in Los Angeles, the play was filmed for TV and was aired as part of HBO's Standing Room Only series. The play was a hit among cable TV viewers and Shelley's performance came as a surprise for many because she did very well in her role as Mary. Her risk paid off big.
