Shelley was cast as Tiffany Welles in 1979 during the 4th season of Charlie's Angels. The bright, beautiful and young Supermodel was already famous for her Charlie perfume and cosmetics endorsements and was primed for Hollywood Superstardom; and the Angels series was the perfect vehicle. Even so, Shelley was surprised by the amount of attention her casting generated. "Yesterday, I was a schnook, and today I can't get across the street," Shelley said of her sudden rise to Hollywood fame. She appeared on the cover of many magazines and tabloids throughout the world, including The Hollywood Reporter TV Special, the autumn 1979 issue. (Founded in 1930, The Hollywood Reporter was an American print magazine [now digital] which focused on film, TV and the entertainment industry in Hollywood.) The issue featured the "Special Report: Women In TV" as women were gaining more notable and prominent roles in the medium. And Shelley was a great example of what the new woman on TV was like - gorgeous, glamorous, independent and extremely intelligent.
