Shelley was very active in Hollywood in the 1980s. In 1985, she starred in the TV movie Kicks with soap superstar Anthony Geary. The movie tackled a somewhat unusual subject. It was about a couple who was addicted to, who got a big kick out of cheap thrills. Shelley played Maggie Pierson, a college professor addicted to that sort of thing. She meets her match in Martin Cheevers (played by Anthony Geary), a wealthy businessman with a mysterious past. But their thrills gradually turn into chills as Cheevers keeps upping the anti as they go along. As the story unfolds, the thrills begin to take darker and more dangerous turns. The telefilm has been released on both VHS and DVD formats. Noteworthy too is the inclusion of Tom Mason in the cast, as Maggie's boyfriend Caleb. The chemistry between the two is so evident that it's not a surprise they were cast as husband and wife in the TV series Jack and Mike a year later.
