Shelley did a lot of modeling after getting her degree in 1970. She went full-time and was everywhere. She was one of the busiest models at the Ford Modeling Agency, the company that represented her. Ford represented and had represented the most sought after models in the business - from Suzy Parker to Lauren Hutton. Shelley was one of Ford's biggest-earners.

Reigning Beauty of the Moment

Shelley was a Supermodel by 1978. She had become a well-known model worldwide via her Charlie perfume endorsements. She was "one of the reigning beauties of the moment", as one writer put it - and she truly was. Her portrayal of THE Charlie Girl as a fabulously independent modern woman resonated everywhere. Women were becoming more and more independent and confident of themselves; and Shelley's Charlie Girl was in sync with the times.

Shelley was on a roll in 1983. She was finally getting positive reviews for her acting performances and had numerous projects coming out. One of them was Trackdown: Finding the Goodbar Killer, in which she co-starred with Hollywood heavyweight George Segal. The two would later work again in 1992 on the film Me, Myself and I.

Shelley appeared on many pattern packages for Simplicity throughout the 1970s. In 1976, she appeared on pattern package number 7783. It was a pattern for a designer outfit that was made up of a blouse, a pair of flared pants and a vest. And Shelley made her designer outfit look fabulous.

Shelley was the top story in 1979 when she was cast as the newest Charlie's Angel. But shelley was determined to keep her feet on the ground despite the media frenzy around her. In one Spanish article it said, "Shelley es muy sencilla. 'Convertirme en estrella no me hara otra persona', afirmo." which translates to "Shelley is very simple. ' Becoming a star will not make me someone else,' she said." And Shelley stayed as her simple sensible self until this very day.

Shelley appeared in many catalogs in 1970s. One of them was Aldens, a popular chain of department stores at the time. She appeared throughout their spring and summer catalog for 1971. In the spread called "Making a Triple Play with The Snaz Wardrober!", she modeled wardrobe pieces that could be mixed and matched in four variations -depending on the wearer's moods and needs. It was made up of a crepe mini dress, a pair of crepe pants and a "pow" plaid vest. And in all variations, Shelley looked sensational.
