a writeup about Shelley from Modern People, 1978
Shelley was a fast-rising superstar in the late 1970s. She had become one of the Supermodels of the decade and had gained worldwide fame as THE Charlie Girl, Revlon's best-selling brand. Naturally, Hollywood had taken notice and she was getting offers left and right. But Shelley wasn't, and isn't, your typical dumb blonde Supermodel; she was and is one bright girl. She has a degree from Smith College and, by that time, she was one of the highest-earning models in the world. She could afford to be choosy when it came to selecting acting roles. She knew she was green and needed to learn her craft. But the momentum her Supermodel status gave her meant she had to lean fast.
