Shelley with Len Goldberg and Aaron Spelling
Shelley became a Charlie's Angel in 1979. She was hired to fill in the spot left by Kate Jackson (Kate was the first Angel fired from the series). Everyone was happy with the choice especially Aaron Spelling and Leonard Goldberg, the executive producers of the show. Shelley's addition brought renewed interest in the series which had suffered a slump in the ratings the season before (it slipped from no. 4 to no. 12 in the Nielsen ratings). Shelley was already a famous Supermodel and everyone was so excited to see her get the bad guys, Supermodel style.
