Shelley's third foray into series TV was Jack and Mike in 1986. The series was about a young yuppie couple trying to strike a balance between their careers and their marriage. Jackie (Shelley) was a star journalist in Chicago while Mike (Tom Mason) was her restaurateur husband, famous in the city for his innovative restaurants. The series tackled the many challenges couples encountered in the 1980s when women were beginning to become a permanent part of the workforce. The episode "Ready or Not" tackled the topic of unplanned pregnancies and how it would affect the life of a busy working couple, especially the woman. Jackie's pregnant and she and Mike are wondering how it will affect their lives.
