Sweaterdress

Shelley Hack and Lisa Taylor modeled the must-haves for Vogue in '76

Shelley modeled the latest must-have for fall 1976, as recommended by Vogue on its July issue that year. She wore a pale-beige sweaterdress in ribbed cashmere that could be worn on its own or, if the weather gets cooler, over another sweater or a shirt. It could also be worn with all buttoned up as a turtleneck. It was the perfect dress in and out of town, and Shelley looked perfect in it.

Improved as Jackie

Shelley's third attempt at series TV came in the form of Jack and Mike (1986-1987.) The series was set in Chicago and was about a busy married yuppie couple who couldn't seem to find time for each other due to their busy schedules. Shelley played Jackie Shea, a journalist; while co-star Tom Mason played her husband Mike Brennan, a restaurateur. As Lee Winfrey, a television critic, wrote in 1986, "Hack's acting has improved since she spent a fleeting year as one of Charlie's Angels." He added, "As it is, Hack is now equipped to hold her own with Mason." Shelley's early '80s efforts on both stage and screen had finally paid off.

Sweaters to Knit

Shelley modeled sweaters for readers to knit back in 1973 for Simplicity's Needlework and Crafts booklet. She modeled styles that could go from day to night; that could be worn over jeans or slacks.

Heavenly Shelley Hack

When Shelley became a Charlie's Angel in 1979, magazines were awash with news and articles about her. Everybody was interested in Charlie's new recruit and was so excited and couldn't wait to see the SuperModel debut on TV's most popular series. Everyone agreed she was the perfect choice; plus, she looked fantastic with Jaclyn Smith and Cheryl Ladd, her new co-stars.

Turtleneck Body Suit

Shelley modeled the turtleneck body suit for JCPenney's 1975 Fall/Winter catalog. Body suits were popular in the '70s and were worn over jeans, slacks, skirts or leotards. Shelley looked great in them.

Mini-Skirted

Shelley wore the mini-skirt, the lastest skirt length in 1989,
to a movie screening that same year.

Surprise Performance

Shelley appeared in the Jack Heifner play Vanities in 1981 with Meredith Baxter (then Birney) and Annette O'Toole. The comedy-drama was taped and presented by HBO (Home Box Office) and was aired as part of the HBO series Standing Room Only. The play received excellent reviews and was very popular among HBO viewers; but it was Shelley's performance as Mary that surprised and blew away many viewers... because Shelley showed that could act. She turned out a fine performance in the play; and it had only been a year since she was let go of her Angel duties. How was that even possible?
