Hello Angels

Shelley was tapped to host the biographies of several Charlie's Angels as well as Charles Townsend himself (John Forsythe.) It aired on the A&E Biography Channel in late 2000 (just in time for the release of the first Charlie's Angels movie) during what they called Hello Angels Week. In 2002, A&E Biography did a special about the TV series itself (which ran from 1976-1981.) Jaclyn Smith and Cheryl Ladd appeared on this special.

Jack had this to say about Shelley's performance:
"This is the HBO production. I wasn't fond of this production but it's the one that more people saw. But Shelley Hack, if you remember, from Charlie's Angels, in this was the best. She was, on stage, probably not the best actress, but for the cam-- for TV she was brilliant."

Shelley's acting was really getting great reviews as the '80s progressed (especially in the theater circuit.)

Runway Inspiration

September 29, 2011 - "She's going to be Shelley Hack" said Bert Keeter, 57, Project Runway finalist on the 9th season of the mega-hit reality show.

The 10th episode of the season, entitled Sew '70s, challenged the contestants to come up with their interpretation of the sophisticated '70s (not retro or disco.) As the other contestants struggled, Bert was at the top of his game, having worked with Bill Blass, Halston and Arnold Scaasi.

"I went for Charlie, the Shelley Hack image that I remember," explained Bert as he presented his designs to Heidi Klum, Michael Kors, Nina Garcia and guest judge, the fab Olivia Palermo. His 3-piece design - an off-shoulder sparkly metallic chiffon top, a removable skirt in the same material and a pair of black hot pants (which, by the way, is also very Shelley Hack) - was a hit with the judges. Heidi said, "I do like this fabric a lot." Michael said, "I like this blouse in this metallic chiffon because women like to show their shoulders." Nina said, " I would buy that top. They would photograph phenomenal." Olivia said, "I love your first look , I think it's beautiful."

As we can see, the "Charlie Girl Shelley Hack" image continues to inspire. This sophisticated, confident and perennially windblown icon is cemented on the world's psyche (especially on those who lived through the '70s) and forever a symbol of the modern, sophisticated, liberated woman.

Paparazzi Protected

Night Court

Shelley Hack was originally slated to play the role of public defender Christine Sullivan on the second season of Night Court in 1984. "I'll be doing my research at the New York court," Shelley said. "I always look forward to researching a role. It will be interesting." Christine Sullivan was to be introduced in the second episode of the season entitled "Daddy for the Defense." But after two days of shooting, Shelley was dropped from the cast when producer Reinhold Weege decided she wasn't right for the part. "After growing conflicts between the producer and actress, it was mutually decided at the 11th hour that she wasn't right for Night Court." Wouldn't it be great if Shelley's lost Night Court scenes were to surface?

A timeline of Shelley's public appearances, from the time she started modeling in 1964 up until the present. There aren't any pics available from 2001 and from 2003 to 2008 (She was very busy managing SHMC - Shelley Hack Media Consultancy during this period. Pics from this era would be gold.) 1982 Play

Shelley played Billie Dawn in the Pennsylvania Stage Co.'s production of Born Yesterday in 1982. Shelley's acting was finally getting noticed. After getting great reviews for Vanities in 1981, she was again being praised for this role.

Sylvia Lawler wrote (in 1986), "That she acquitted herself endearingly enough in Born Yesterday came as something of a surprise to a lot of people." The Call reviewer wrote that Shelley's performance had "a touching and engaging innocence."

Stunner

Shelley is stunning in a Gibson Girl hair-do in 1980.

House Arrest Movie Cameo

Shelley's last movie (theatrical release) to date, is House Arrest, 1996. Directed by her husband Harry Winer, the movie starred Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Pollak, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jennifer Tilly, to name a few.

Also in the cast is Shelley and Harry's daughter Rosie Winer (as she is credited) who played a flower girl in the flashback scene in the movie.

Shelley is uncredited in the film but her character actually has a name. She is Dr. Erica Gilliland, Ph.D., writer of the book Feel The Fear And Go For It. Dr. Gilliland only appears on a TV screen and on the back cover of her book. Shelley's appearance in the film is short but delightful.
