Shelley appeared in an ad for Forecaster of Boston on 1977. It featured all-weather coats that were a step ahead of the weatherman. She modeled a powder blue full-length coat with a color coordinated paisley lining. And Shelley looked ready for those cold or rainy days.

Modern Needle/Craft 3

Shelley appeared on various spreads throughout the mag Modern Needle/Craft in 1971. In one spread, she modeled a Tote Bag anyone could make. The bag, made out of yarn, was a must-have for any young lady in the early '70s. Shelley wore the same turtleneck sweater and smart skirt from a previous spread in the same mag.

'70s Supermodel

Shelley was among a handful of Supermodels who became famous in the 1970s. She appeared in many publications and commercials and was constantly working. And she modeled everything - from makeup to jewelry to high and affordable fashions to mattresses to hair nets and many, many more. Of course, she also modeled the staple in every woman's wardrobe back then - the fur coat, a luxury only few could afford.

Preppy Shelley '78

Shelley's preppy style was evident early in her acting career.

Publicity pictures of her strolling around the city were released in 1978, in time for the screening of her film If Ever I See You Again. Pictures from the same set were used as promotional material when she joined Charlie's Angels. One Spanish mag attached a caption on the pic which said:

"Se rumor a que la esbelta figura y el attractivo personal de Shelley provoco panico en Cheryl Ladd, con quien guarda cierto parecido. Y que, Jaclyn Smith sufrio un ataque de... celos."

which roughly translates to:

"It is rumored that the slim figure and the personal style of Shelley cause a panic attack in Cheryl Ladd, who bears a resemblance to Shelley. And, Jaclyn Smith suffered an attack of ... jealousy."

Oh, what they would write about the Angels back then were so far-fetched.

One of Her Finest

Shelley starred in one of Martin Scorsese's most underrated films - the 1983 box-office flop The King Of Comedy. Robert De Niro and Jerry Lewis lead the cast of characters that included (aside from Shelley) Sandra Bernhard, Diahnne Abbott and Tony Randall. The film is about a comic who would do anything to gain fame. The subject of the film has become more significant as the years have gone by - with  the "cult of celebrity" becoming more and more widespread. The movie has gained more fans (filmmakers and film buffs alike) decades after its theatrical release. And Shelley turned out one of her finest performances in the film. In fact, it's her work in this film that got her the lead in the cult classic The Stepfather in 1986.

A Good-Time Wardrobe

Shelley appeared on many spreads in Sears Spring Through Summer 1974 catalog. In the spread called "Separates featuring... A Good-Time Wardrobe of Casual Knits", she modeled a shirt and skirt ensemble, perfect for summer that season. The shirt had jacquard-patterned collar as well as cuffs. The skirt had an inverted front pleat and two patch pockets. A matching woven belt and a pair of wedge-heeled sandals finished her look. And Shelley looked just fabulous in her summer getup.
