Shelley was discovered at a debutante ball in her teens and began modeling in 1964. She subsequently appeared on numerous magazine covers, magazine editorials and print advertisements. In 1966 she appeared in an ad for Darlene Knitwear, a brand that manufactured fully-fashioned knitted garments. Best known for its hand-screened French angora and lambswool blend sweaters, Darlene Knitwear also made swimsuits and nylon hosiery. The ad promoted Darlene's up-and-go pieces for the cold months, strawberry separates for the upcoming winter festivities. In the ad, Shelley wore a parfait pink shaker knit sweater (a lace-embroidered parfait pullover top) over a pair of matching strawberry flannel taper pants. She finished her look with a pair of stylized parfait pink ballet flats and accessorized her look with a matching headscarf (worn as a headband). And Shelley looked chic, fresh and fabulous in her Darlene Knitwear separates.
