The Suits of '73 C

Shelley in a spread for Seventeen magazine, 1973

Shelley appeared on the pages of Seventeen magazine's February 1973 issue. In the spread called "Learning Suits", she modeled skirt-suits that could be worn while learning to ice skate. She modeled a baby blue cropped jacket with a wide elasticized waist, cuffed sleeves and safari pockets. It came with a matching pleated skirt that ended above the knee. A sweater in the same color and a pair of coordinating knee socks finished her look. She also modeled a pink blazer padded slightly at the shoulders and nipped close to the body. It came with a matching hip-pleated above-the-knee skirt. A strawberry print shirt and matching knee socks finished her look. And in both suits, Shelley looked ready to fashionably hit the ice.

That Smile

Shelley became an in-demand Supermodel in the 1970s. Her face was everywhere - endorsing everything from shampoos to beds. Shelley's smile was a familiar sight on magazines and commercials during the era. Clients always seemed to want her to smile she once said. And why not? Shelley has one of those smile that melts hearts. It's effervescent, disarming, welcoming and very sexy, all at the same time. It was one of her biggest assets when she was a Supermodel.

Bare-Look Shifts

Shelley in a spread for Sears Spring Through Summer 1974 catalog

Shelley appeared in many spreads throughout Sears Spring Through Summer 1974 catalog. In the spread called "Great Bare-Look Shifts", she modeled two shoulder-baring shifts that were perfect for summer that year.

One of them was a shoulder-baring, as well as back-baring, shift dress with a clingy bodice that had elasticized smocking and a whirly skirt. It had straps that tied at the back of the neck and a back zipper. Shelley looked sexy and ready for the summer heat.

She also modeled a shoulder-baring dress with a bodice that had rows of elasticized smocking in "zingy" colors and topped with tiny ruffles. It was held up with a pair of tie-on shoulder straps. It had a softly flared skirt that flattered everyone. Shelley looked sweet and ready for those warm summer days.

Shelley Makes Good

a writeup about Shelley from 1987

Shelley slowly but surely made sure she always moved forward in her career as an actress. After her big break as one of Charlie's Angels, she immediately did plays, films and TV projects to further hone her acting chops. Eventually, she earned critical praise; but it was in 1987 that she scored a hit with the film feature The Stepfather. It came hand-in-hand with her third foray into series TV Jack and Mike, which was slowly gaining a bigger audience when it was suddenly canceled.

Marilyn Stark on DVD

Seaquest DSV on DVD

Shelley appeared in the pilot episode of the Steven Spielberg produced TV series SeaQuest DSV in 1993. In the episode "To Be or Not to Be", she played Captain Marilyn Stark - the original and trigger-happy captain of SeaQuest Deep Submergence Vehicle (DSV) who was relieved of duty for disobeying orders. Nathan Bridger (played by Roy Scheider), the designer of SeaQuest, was recruited to replace Stark; but during his first voyage aboard the vessel, Stark embarked on a revenge mission to destroy SeaQuest. The episode is currently out on DVD - as part of the SeaQuest DSV Season One DVD set and SeaQuest DSV The Complete Collection Seasons 1-3 DVD set. Get either and "see who gets the parade".
