Shelley in a spread for Redbook magazine, Feb 1984
Shelley appeared in a spread for Redbook magazine's Feb 1984 issue called "Looks That Last". It featured the chemise or the sack dress - which was making a big comeback in the mid-'80s. Of course, it had wider shoulders and a looser fit, a popular silhouette at the time.

Shelley was making a comeback as well. She wowed critics in the stage plays Vanities and Born Yesterday and in the Martin Scorsese film The King of Comedy with Robert De Niro and Jerry Lewis. She got great reviews for the play Close Ties and the TV movies Trackdown: Finding the Goodbar Killer and Found Money. She also was noticed for her work in her TV series Cutter to Houston, which should have had a longer run.
