Shelley in a spread for Redbook magazine, Feb 1984
Shelley appeared in a spread for Redbook magazine's Feb 1984 issue called "Looks That Last". It featured the chemise or the sack dress - which was making a big comeback in the mid-'80s. Of course, it had wider shoulders and a looser fit, a popular silhouette at the time.

Shelley was making a comeback as well. After wowing critics in the stage play Vanities, she went on to do another stage play, Born Yesterday, and wowed them once again. She then starred in Martin Scorsese's The King of Comedy with Robert De Niro and Jerry Lewis and received glowing reviews. Then she did the play Close Ties, and the TV movies Trackdown: Finding the Goodbar Killer and Found Money before finally getting the lead in the TV series Cutter to Houston, which could have had a longer run had it been given a chance to warm up to audiences.
