Shelley was a hard working actress back in the 1980s. She saw an opportunity open and took a peek, as she put it. It was the decade she starred in The King of Comedy and The Stepfather, as well as in two TV series - Cutter to Houston and Jack and Mike. In the '90s, she focused on other ventures like political fund raising and delving into grassroots politics in L.A. Even later through her company SHMC (Shelley Hack Media Consultancy), she became a media consultant for pre- and post-conflict countries. She began with Bosnia, producing their first-ever televised presidential debates. For ten years, SHMC helped develop unbiased television, film, and associated media projects in war-torn and developing countries. Essentially, she helped develop television and film projects for foreign markets. She worked extensively in the Balkans and Western Asia. In 2010, she and her husband director Harry Winer formed SMASH MEDIA Inc. a film production company that has since produced the feature film Erased and the Hallmark Channel original movies Lucky Christmas, Perfect Match. Shelley also produced Summer of Dreams, also a Hallmark Channel original movie.
