Shelley's third foray into series TV was Jack and Mike. It was about a married yuppie couple living in Chicago, trying to find time for each other in their busy schedules. Shelley played Jackie Shea, a star columnist at The Mirror, a widely-circulated Chicago paper. Her column was awaited by everyone every week. Her husband was Mike Brennan (played by Tom Mason), a successful restaurateur about to open his third restaurant. In the episode "High Anxiety," Jackie tries to steer a talented graffiti artist towards a more conventional artistic path. Also, a famed comedy team that frequents Mike's restaurant brings in so much business, as well as other things. The episode was originally aired in November 11, 1986.

To continue, Jackie arrives at The Mirror and updates her editor Nora Adler about the graffiti artist she went to see the night before. She says Sam and friends are amazing artists. Nora asks how old he is. Sam, Jackie replies, is a girl named Samantha - which delights Nora. Jackie says she's meeting Sam again tonight for a grand tour of the city's street art. Nora informs Jackie that the horticulturist had been evicted and is out on the streets, displaced by a used car dealership. "Nuts" is all that Jackie can say. Later, in Mike's restaurant 1935, Animal Crackers is entertaining the resto's patrons and bartender Kenny tells Mike they should feature the comedy team every night, after hours. Mike sees Noah and wonders where Ben is. Belinda says he's been hiding in the men's room. Mike has a hunch. He catches Ben in the men's room, about to sniff some cocaine. He throws the cocaine down the sink with some water. Mike is furious at Ben and threatens to call the police on him if he ever catches Ben with drugs in his restaurant again. Ben is shaken.
