Shelley was THE Charlie Girl from 1976 to 1982. "THE" because it was Shelley's image that inspired women to go out, be independent and be happy about it. In fact, it was and still is Shelley's face that is most associated with the brand. And just like Shelley, Tom Selleck was and is the face most associated with Revlon Charlie's counterpart Chaz. In 1980, the two brands were brought together in an ad campaign that tied both brands with the 1980 Winter Olympics which was held from February 13 through February 24, 1980, in Lake Placid, New York. A Charlie and Chaz Sporting Life Kit, a travel-size kit containing Charlie's after bath tonic, body silk and perfume and Chaz's cologne and after shave balm, was created in honor of the event. Shelley and Tom appeared in ads skiing or ice skating or on a sled as promo for the kit.
