Shelley became Charlie's Angel no. 5 in around the later part of May in 1979. Initially, it was reported that Barbara Bach got the role; so, writeups about Ms. Bach began popping up in magazines and newspapers. When it was confirmed that Shelley got the part, the frenzy about her suddenly began. "I had press people crawling in my windows," she told E! in 2002.
