Charlie's Supermodel

a closeup of Shelley from a 1982 Charlie perfume ad

Shelley rose to the top of the modeling business in the 1970s. In 1976 she signed an exclusive contract with Revlon to become their Charlie brand's image model and spokesperson. Shelley quickly and almost immediately catapulted the brand, as well as herself, to worldwide recognition. Her image as THE Charlie Girl was a phenomenal success. Women (and even some men) wanted to become her - a fabulous, independent, liberated young woman who wasn't afraid to be happy with about all that. In fact, in 2008, Shelley told Oprah Winfrey that even she wanted to be that fabulous.
