Shelley's big break came in 1979 when she was cast as Tiffany Welles in Charlie's Angels. All of a sudden, she was all over the news and people were interested in everything about her. But she was determined to keep her privacy and refused to talk about her family, saying it was her not them that was in showbiz. As one Mexican magazine put it, "el famoso 'Angel' se niega a hablar de su pasado" or "the famous 'Angel' refuses to talk about her past".
