Shelley in a spread for Seventeen mag, November 1964
Shelley began modeling in late 1964. She appeared on the cover and pages of Glamour magazine November that year. That same month, she appeared on the cover of Seventeen magazine (with teen Supermodel Colleen Corby). Inside, she appeared in her first ever spread for Seventeen. It featured fashions for frolicking in the snow.

In the one called "Ski Sweets: News to Loop Up", she modeled a crochet sweater that anyone could make for themselves with the new technique called looping. Shelley wore a sleeveless scoop-neck top with ruffle details on the neck and hem. It was perfect for those indoor social events during the cold months. And Shelley looked sensational in it.
