Shelley in a spread for Seventeen mag, November 1964
Shelley began modeling in late 1964. She appeared on the cover and pages of Glamour magazine November that year. That same month, she appeared on the cover of Seventeen magazine (with teen Supermodel Colleen Corby). Inside, she appeared in her first ever spread for Seventeen. It featured fashions for frolicking in the snow.

In the one called "No Fun Like Snow Fun!", she modeled two fabulous looks for the ski slopes that season. She wore a snowy white cowl-collared sweater over a pair of water-repellent stretch pants - both by Sportsmaker. She also wore a textured sweater with a shirty neckline by Miss Gotham, ski-happy jeans by Levi Strauss and Collage mittens. And, of course, Shelley looked sensational in both looks.
