Charlie perfume has been around a very long time and many women have become Charlie Girls throughout the years. In 1994, Brooke Shields and Claudia Schiffer took over the reins - Brooke for the original Charlie scent and Claudia for the new Charlie Red. Entertainment Tonight did a segment on the making of their commercial which, of course, mentioned Shelley Hack, the quintessential Charlie Girl. It said Shelley THE Charlie Girl was a "cultural icon of the '70s" and showed footage of Shelley in her 1979 Charlie perfume commercial with Mel Torme.
