Shelley was one of the sought-after teen models in the 1960s. She was discovered at a debutante ball by millionaire/publisher Huntington Hartford. After some convincing from him and her mother, she agreed to give it a try. But for Shelley, school was her priority and modeling was just a summer job. "It beats waitressing," she said. When she graduated, she went from part-time to full-time and was everywhere. By the 1970s, she jumped to Supermodel status via her unforgettable turn as Revlon's Charlie Girl.

Star Journalist

Shelley as Jackie Shea in Jack and Mike, 1986

Shelley's third stab at series TV was Jack and Mike. It was about a star journalist, Jackie Shea, who was married to a famous restaurateur, Mike Brennan, and who was trying to find time for both her work and her man. The series was filmed on location in Chicago. Shelley loved doing Jack and Mike. She loved the premise of the show and how it dealt with the problems women at the time were facing - finding a good balance between work and family life. Women's Lib was a thing of the '70s; and now in the '80s, women were faced with the situations that resulted from that liberation. Shelley herself was one of those women.
