Teen Model

Shelley modeling in her teens in the1960s

Shelley was one of the sought-after teen models in the 1960s. She was discovered at a debutante ball by millionaire/publisher Huntington Hartford. After some convincing from him and her mother, she agreed to give it a try. But for Shelley, school was her priority and modeling was just a summer job. "It beats waitressing," she said. She was represented Ford Models Inc. which was owned and operated by Eileen Ford, an acquaintance of her mother Pat, a former model herself. When she graduated, she went from part-time to full-time and was everywhere. By the 1970s, she jumped to Supermodel status via her unforgettable turn as Revlon's Charlie Girl.
