Shelley appeared on the cover as well as in many spreads throughout Seventeen magazine's November 1970 issue. In the spread called "Buzz Off in a Roadster, Play it Plushy... You'll Stop Traffic!", she modeled velvety-soft greatcoats that were purry as a well-tuned engine, that were warmed up and ready to travel and that would make any girl feel like an heiress - all of which were practical for fending off showers and shivers. She wore a double-breasted brown classic coat that was narrow at the top and flared at the bottom. It had snazzy lapels as well as hideaway pockets. It was by Larry Levine. Stretch boots by Latinas and a tasseled choker by Marne finished her look. And Shelley looked fashionably ready for those rainy days.

Play it Plushy A
Based on Fact
In 1983, Shelley co-starred in the TV movie Trackdown: Finding the Goodbar Killer with George Segal, who played Detective John Grafton, a New York City detective looking for the murderer of a schoolteacher who happened to be a good friend of Logan Gay, the character played by Shelley. The movie was based on fact. It's about the investigation on the brutal murder of a young school teacher during the Christmas season in New York in the 1970s. In the telefilm, after a bumpy first meeting, Logan eventually becomes Graftons' love interest. Shelley and George Segal would eventually work together again in 1992, in the feature film Me Myself and I.
Body-and-Soul Set 1
Shelley was THE quintessential Charlie Girl and appeared in many, many ads for the brand. In 1976, she appeared in a newspaper ad for Charlie that offered "Charlie's Body-and-Soul Set" as a dividend. It was a promo that offered customers a chance to purchase the Revlon Charlie Body-and-Soul Set (which contained Charlie perfume and various Charlie skincare products which cost $19.75) for only $4.75 for any purchase of $5.00 or more from the Charlie Collection. Shelley, of course, appeared in the ad for this promo.

1985 Thriller
Shelley was one busy actress in the 1980s. She appeared in various stage and screen (big and small) productions. In 1985, she appeared in the TV movie Kicks with soap superstar Anthony Geary. The movie was about a San Francisco college teacher, Maggie (Shelley), who had a penchant for living on the edge and engaging in dangerous, life-threatening activities. She meets her match in mysterious millionaire Martin Cheevers (Geary) who takes her on a ride of her life - from one dangerous thrill to another. Eventually, the thrill becomes too dangerous and Maggie finds herself in peril. Tom Mason played Caleb, Maggie's boyfriend; and his chemistry with Shelley was so evident that it wasn't surprising he was cast as Mike Brennan, Jackie's husband, in Shelley's TV series Jack and Mike a year later.
Spring Shirt Tales
Simpsons-Sears was a joint venture between the Simpsons department store chain in Canada and the Sears department store chain in the US. The joint venture began in around 1953. Shelley appeared on many catalogs for Simpsons-Sears in the 1970s. She appeared in several spreads throughout Simpsons-Sears Spring and Summer 1975 catalog. In the spread called "Spring Shirt Tales," she modeled the Big-Value, Big Fashion Print Shirt. The smart short-sleeved shirt had a collar and a front-button opening. It had cuffed sleeves and one pocket. The geometric print she wore was the Navy/Red combo but it also came in a Brown/Yellow combination. Shelley wore it with an equally smart-looking skirt and accessorized it with cool sunglasses and a matching bangle. Shelley looked sensational.

More Mother's Day Fashions
Shelley appeared on many ads and fashion spreads for Sears in the 1960s and 1970s. Sears is an American chain of department stores that began in 1892. It began as a mail ordering catalog company; then in 1925 opened its first retail location. Shelley appeared on the cover and pages of the 1975 newspaper supplement called Sears Gifts For Mothers. It featured value packed gifts that were perfect gifts for all mothers that season. On the cover she wore the Comfort Coat, a comfortable housecoat that could be worn around the house during the day. (Check it out at: Advanced Happy Mother's Day) Inside, she wore "Sleep Fashions for Mother," particularly, a sleeping gown and coat set with embroidery and lace trims. And in both outfits, Shelley looked perfectly comfortable.
Back on Cloud Nine
Shelley along with Kate Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, Jaclyn Smith, Cheryl Ladd and Tanya Roberts were all part of the cast of the phenomenal hit TV series Charlie's Angels which originally aired from 1976 to 1981. The TV series was one of the most ground-breaking and popular shows to ever hit television and was loved all around the world. Fans couldn't get enough of the Angels even after the series was cancelled and went off the air; so much so that years after it ended, fans still wanted to know what was going on with each of them. Writeups about the Angels would pop up here and there through the years; and updates on their careers, lives and loves would appear. Two years after the show was cancelled, the Angels were "...back on Cloud Nine." By January of 1983, Kate had done the controversial feature film Making Love. Farrah received critical acclaim for her performance in the TV drama Murder in Texas. Jackie received a Golden Globe nomination for her acting in the TV movie Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy. Cheryl was set to star in the teleflick The Grace Kelly Story. Shelley received critical praise for her work in the play Vanities and was set to star in the Martin Scorsese's The King of Comedy with Robert De Niro. And Tanya Roberts appeared on Playboy, had starred in the cult classic film feature The Beastmaster and was set to star in Hearts and Armour. The Angels were all flying high and still on cloud nine.
Dress and Bolero Fashion Set
Shelley appeared on many Simplicity pattern catalogs, brochures and packaging during the 1960s and 1970s. The Simplicity Pattern Company is the leading manufacturer of sewing patterns and sewing pattern guides which are distributed throughout the world. They have been manufacturing sewing patterns since 1927 and have allowed fashionistas on a budget and sewing aficionados to create clothes in a reliable manner. In 1972, she appeared on the cover of pattern package 9272. It contained patterns and instructions for creating a dress and bolero fashion set. The dress (which could be made in three lengths) had set-in sleeves gathered at the armholes and ending with elastic casings (they could be made long or short, as preferred). The bolero had eyelets and lacing trim. Matching footwear completed her look. And Shelley looked chic and fabulous.
High Anxiety 7
Shelley's third foray into series TV was Jack and Mike. It was about a married yuppie couple living in Chicago, trying to find time for each other in their busy schedules. Shelley played Jackie Shea, a star columnist at The Mirror, a widely-circulated Chicago paper. Her column was awaited by everyone every week. Her husband was Mike Brennan (played by Tom Mason), a successful restaurateur about to open his third restaurant. In the episode "High Anxiety," Jackie tries to steer a talented graffiti artist towards a more conventional artistic path. Also, a famed comedy team that frequents Mike's restaurant brings in so much business, as well as other things. The episode was originally aired in November 11, 1986.

The printed blouse had a collar, bishop sleeves and box plate that ended at the waist band. The collar, yoke and box plate were in a contrasting printed fabric. The pants had a front zipper. Shelley looked chic and festive.
Acting Praise
Shelley appeared (alongside Alec Baldwin and Jim Mezler) in the TV series Cutter to Houston in 1983; and many of her critics and detractors were surprised by how well she had improved acting-wise. Right after leaving Charlie's Angels in 1980, Shelley had been receiving great reviews for her acting efforts on both stage and the big and small screens. She received positive reviews for her performance in the Jack Heifner play Vanities, which was aired as part of the HBO series Standing Room Only. She then ventured further and did Elizabeth Diggs' Close Ties and likewise received great reviews. She starred in Martin Scorsese's The King of Comedy and the TV movies Trackdown: Finding the Goodbar Killer and Found Money. She was praised for efforts. Even her biggest detractor on Charlie's Angels producer Ed Lakso admitted, "One year after the show, I saw Shelley in the stage play Vanities, and she did a wonderful job."

Going Along Swimmingly
Shelley joined the cast of the phenomenal hit TV series Charlie's Angels in 1979 during its 4th season. She took over from Kate Jackson who left after the 3rd season. Since it starred women as leads, the series was always unfairly plagued by rumors of catfights and jealousy on the set since the series debuted in 1976. The 4th season was no different. Immediately, tongues started wagging about the three main stars not getting along. But Shelley dispelled the rumors by saying that Jaclyn Smith and Cheryl Ladd had been nothing but nice to her. Shelley told one reporter of her new co-stars, "It's fun to work with them. We giggle a lot during lunch." Jaclyn said, "I feel good about her. When we shot a scene, I felt comfortable with her. I think the three of us are going to get along great." Cheryl said, "Shelley seems like a terrific girl. I know what she's going through because it wasn't too long ago I was in her position. I think she's good and I'll do everything I can to make her feel at home." Everything was going along swimmingly with this new Angel team.

The blouse had a front neckline zipper, stand-up collar, set-in sleeves and an optional purchased belt. The pants were hip-hugger bell-bottoms with a front zipper and a waistband below the normal waistline. Contrasting patch pockets, band and suspenders fastened with hook-up closures were suggested. Matching footwear completed her look. And Shelley looked causally chic and fabulous.

It had buttons running down the front and a cinched waist. Matching hose and Mary Janes finished her look. And, of course, Shelley looked oh so festive and super chic.

Wallpaper-Print Shirt
Simpsons-Sears was a joint venture between the Simpsons department store chain in Canada and the Sears department store chain in the US. The joint venture began in around 1953. Shelley appeared on many catalogs for Simpsons-Sears in the 1970s. She appeared in several spreads throughout Simpsons-Sears Spring and Summer 1975 catalog. The smart shirt had a crisp collar and long sleeves with two-button cuffs. It could be worn with pants or a skirt - on its own or under a blazer. And as always, Shelley looked sensational.
