Shelley returned to series TV in 1986 via Jack and Mike. Shelley was growing as a performer and the series was a perfect showcase for her talent to finally shine. Her co-star Tom Mason was on the same boat. He needed the right vehicle to finally shine and the series was a good opportunity for him to do so. Both had worked together a year earlier in the TV movie Kicks, playing a couple. They had great chemistry and it was apparent that Jack and Mike was going to take full advantage of that.
