Shelley in a promo pic from 1979

Shelley became a bonafide Hollywood superstar when she joined the cast of Charlie's Angels in 1979. Charlie's Angels was one of the biggest hits on television in the 1970s and the cast of the phenomenally successful TV series all became international superstars - which by then included Shelley. Shelley said in one interview that she was surprised by the press "bonanza" that came after she got the part. She was surprised by the amount of interest her casting generated. "I couldn't believe it. What was I doing in the evening news?" Shelley exclaimed. Her face appeared on countless magazines, tabloids and newspapers all around the world. In 1979, she appeared on the cover and pages of Woman's Day magazine's November 1979 issue. She appeared in a spread called "The Cut, The Set The Pizzazz: Celebrity Hairdos," along with her fellow Angels co-stars Jaclyn Smith, Cheryl Ladd and Farrah Fawcett.
