Shelley appeared on many magazines (covers and spreads) during her Supermodel days. She appeared on many major mags such as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Glamour, Mademoiselle, Seventeen and the like. She also appeared on bridal magazines such as Modern Bride. Modern Bride was and is a guide for brides that contains fashion options and information about everything that has to do with weddings, honeymoon destinations and marriage advice. In 1975, Shelley appeared on a spread with fellow model Nancy Dutiel (who became the face and spokesmodel for the French cosmetics company Lancôme from April 1977 until the early 1980s). They both modeled various bridal gowns and bridesmaid dresses that were chic and up-to-the-minute. Shelley, as always, was absolutely beautiful in all of them.

episode "Personal Foul," 1986

Shelley's third foray into series TV was Jack and Mike. It was about a married yuppie couple living in Chicago, trying to find time for each other in their busy schedules. Shelley played Jackie Shea, a star columnist at The Mirror, a widely-circulated Chicago paper. Her column was awaited by everyone every week. Her husband was Mike Brennan (played by Tom Mason), a successful restaurateur. Other cast members were: Nora Adler (Jacqueline Brookes), Jackie’s editor;  Anthony Kubecek (Kevin Dunn), Jackie's assistant; Carol (Holly Fulger), the head waitress at Mike's restaurant, Brennan's Grill; and Rick Scotti (Vincent Baggetta), an attorney who appears occasionally. In the episode "Personal Foul," a college professor is suspended for trying to flunk the school's star basketball player, and Mike is upset that Jackie's covering the story, since it's his alma mater and he's the team's No. 1 supporter. The episode was originally aired in September 30, 1986.

To continue, amidst the problems Mike has been facing (and trying to solve) due to the hot water problem at Brennan's Grill, he receives a phone call from Coach Cyril Brock. Cy is upset that the article Jackie wrote about the college sports scene at Lincoln University may ruin his chances at securing the job offered to him by a university in California. Mike tells Cy that Jackie was writing about lingerie not the college sports scene. But Cy tells him that the article just came out in the evening edition and is going to be a series. Cy tells Mike to tell Jackie to stop and hangs up. Back at home, Jackie arrives excited as she spots Mike reading the paper at the dinner table. She approaches him and announces that she has a surprise for him... under her coat. She opens it and underneath is the lingerie picked out for her by her editor Nora at the lingerie party earlier that evening. Mike is not impressed. He's upset about the article Jackie had written about the college sports scene at Lincoln U. Jackie tries to explain to him that she went to see him at the restaurant earlier to warn him about exactly that; but she had to rush back to The Mirror before she was able to. Mike is too upset to discuss it with her and goes to bed.

Shelley first became famous in the 1970s as THE Charlie Girl. In 1976, she was hand-picked to represent the Revlon Charlie brand, as she was the embodiment the brand's ideal – gorgeous, sexy and young. Makeup artist Rick Gillette recalls, "Shelley Hack was really the perfect girl for Charlie. I remember when Revlon creative director David Leddick had Steen Svensson shoot the first presentation with her that got her the contract." They shot a commercial with her and when it debuted, it was an immediate and immense hit. By 1977, Charlie became the #1 fragrance in the world (the first American-made international bestseller). In 1977, she appeared in a newspaper ad for Charlie called the "Make It A Christmas To Remember With Charlie From Revlon." It was a promo for the "Charlie Fragrance Coup" which contained a bottle of Charlie perfume spray, Charlie Body Silk, Charlie Body Silk Foam Bath, Charlie Body Silk and Charlie Bath Soap. It was worth just $4.75 with any Charlie collection purchase. Now wasn't that a fabulous Christmas gift to receive? Shelley, as always, was gorgeous in the ad.

Tiffany and Starsky

for Single Bars, Single Women, 1984

Shelley (who played Tiffany Welles on Charlie's Angels) and Paul Michael Glaser (who played Detective Dave Starsky on Starsky & Hutch) starred alongside each other in the 1984 telefilm Single Bars, Single Women. Shelley starred as Frankie, a truck-stop waitress looking to move on from her former flame Gabe (Paul Michael Glaser). The film explored the bar scene as seen in the eyes of women. It was a time when gender roles were evolving and the rules of dating were changing... fast. No longer in need of escorts and chaperones, women could now go bar-hopping alone to meet the men they wanted to meet. Women were becoming more confident in going out on their own and looking for love and companionship. Tony Danza, Keith Gordon, Christine Lahti, Mare Winningham and Kathleen Wilhoite completed the cast. It was directed by Shelley's future hubby Harry Winer.

on Simplicity Young Ideas Catalog's

Fall-Winter 1972 issue

Shelley appeared on many Simplicity pattern catalogs, brochures and packaging during the 1960s and 1970s. The Simplicity Pattern Company is the leading manufacturer of sewing patterns and sewing pattern guides which are distributed throughout the world. They have been manufacturing sewing patterns since 1927 and have allowed fashionistas on a budget and sewing aficionados to create clothes in a reliable manner. Shelley appeared in Simplicity Young Ideas Catalog's Fall-Winter 1972 issue.

In the issue, Shelley appeared in the spread called "Moonlighting Magic Makes The Scene In Romantic New Lengths" - which featured patterns for mix-and-match wardrobe sets. Shelley wore Simplicity pattern number 5245, a pattern for a dolman-sleeved blouse with a back zipper, tie collar and long sleeves that gathered into sleeve bands. The pattern also included a jumper with a square neckline, a midriff stitched to the bodice and a long A-line skirt with a back zipper. It had self fabric ruffles and tie ends. Matching hose and footwear and a pin on her hair finished her look. And Shelley looked young, chic, and very romantic.

Fall And Winter 1975 catalog

Shelley appeared on many spreads for many catalogs from the late '60s to the mid-'70s. Mail-order catalogs were at the height of its popularity at the time. They were big-book size publications that contained a list of general merchandise from, usually, a department store that were available for purchase and delivery straight to the homes of consumers. Everything from homeware to toys were featured in these catalogs... as well as garments and the latest fashion pieces. Many Supermodels - like Cheryl Tiegs, Beverly Johnson, Patti Hansen and Shelley Smith, just to name a few - appeared in the most popular catalogs of the era. Many models who eventually became actresses also appeared in these catalogs - like Veronica Hamel, Erin Grey, Kim Basinger and Pam Dawber.

Fall And Winter 1975 catalog

Shelley appeared on many spreads throughout the JCPenney Fall and Winter 1975 catalog. In the section called "Look Great Without Spending A Fortune," she modeled fashion pieces that could be incorporated into any woman's present wardrobe to give it a fresh, new, high-end and updated look. And, of course, the pieces were so budget-friendly, women wouldn't think twice about buying an armful of them. Shelley wore The Pants Suit she which consisted of a sweater jacket worn over a turtleneck sweater and flare-legged pants. Contrast-stitched T-strapped shoes and a matching contrast-stitched tote finished her outfit. And Shelley looked chic, high-end and so gorgeous on the spread.

1983 TV Series

October was the 40th Anniversary of Shelley's second TV series, 1983's Cutter to Houston. The show was about three young doctors recruited to run a small hospital in the fictional rural town of Cutter, Texas. Shelley played Dr. Beth Gilbert, an ambitious surgeon on temporary assignment in Cutter. Beth aspired to become a heart surgeon in Houston. Jim Metzler played idealistic GP Dr. Andy Fenton, who grew up in Cutter and was glad to be back in the town that financed his medical education. Alec Baldwin played internist/ladies man Dr. Hal Wexler, who was getting through his probation, having been relegated to Cutter for being a little too fast and free with his prescriptions.

Cutter to Houston was a short-lived TV series that began airing in the fall of 1983. Although it received mixed reviews, it had great promise; plus, the cast had an easy rapport and had enough talent to carry an hour-long drama. Prior to the series, former Charlie's Angel Shelley Hack had already proven that she had acting chops, having received great reviews for her work on stage as well as on the big and small screens. Jim Metzler had a Golden Globe Award nomination under his belt for his supporting role in the 1982 feature film Tex. Alec Baldwin had come from his 1980-1982 stint in the NBC daytime soap opera The Doctors. Cutter to Houston, which was aired Saturday nights, had a difficult time finding an audience. Aside from a bad time slot, it seemed to have lost network confidence early on... "sleeper hits" were still unheard of at the time. It was first aired on October 1, 1983; and after 4 original episodes, it was announced cancelled by October 29, 1983. Replays and three more original episodes were aired until December 31, 1983.
