Black and White, 1967

Shelley appeared on many catalogs during her tenure as Supermodel. In 1967, 20-year-old Shelley appeared on the pages of Penneys Spring and Summer catalog. In the spread called "Black and White... The Current Fashion Story," Shelley modeled a dress that was perfect for a day around town.

She wore the white nautical-style A-line dress which had black trimming on the collar and sleeves and had black stars adorning the collar. Sailor-style buttons ran in front of the dress. It could be worn with a matching white hat with a shirred brim and was trimmed with a bow. The self-button hat had an elastic head band. Shelley looked fab in both dress dress and hat.

In the 1990s, Shelley was seen many times with her husband director Harry Winer attending awards shows and charity events. She regularly attended benefits, Hollywood shindigs and political events at the time. Eventually, her focus shifted from being in front of the camera to being behind the camera, as she slowly morphed into a political media consultant to pre- and post-conflict countries, helping them establish democracy thru media.She began in Bosnia in 1997 and then worked extensively in the Balkans and Western Asia.

Shelley appeared on many ads in the 1960s and 1970s. In 1977, she appeared in an ad for Fortrel. The ad featured Shelley in a dress by Hal Ferman. Ferman  was an aeronautical engineer who was stationed in China during WWII. After the war, he became one of the first mass producers of designer dresses under the label Hal Ferman, Inc.

Cutter to Houston Pilot 25

Shelley's second foray into series TV was Cutter to Houston. It was about three young doctors from the world-famous Texas Medical Center in Houston who were recruited to run a small hospital in the fictional rural town of Cutter, Texas. Jim Metzler and Alec Baldwin played the other two doctors. Jim played idealistic GP Dr. Andy Fenton, who grew up in Cutter and is glad to be home. Alec played internist/ladies man Dr. Hal Wexler, who is getting through his probation, having been relegated to Cutter for being a little too fast and free with his prescriptions. And Shelley played Dr. Beth Gilbert, an ambitious surgeon on temporary assignment in Cutter and aspires to be a heart surgeon in Houston.

To continue, the annual Cutter baseball game is on. Hal, who wants to impress Sally Tollhouse, has been practicing his pitch. It's the final inning, and Sally's brother Carl steps up to the plate. Hal knows he has to impress him as well. Sally arrives on horseack to watch the game. Hal pitches and manages to strike Carl out and win the game for his team. He comes over to shake Carl's hand but is rejected. Andy, who is Hal's catcher, tells him that Carl will come around. Beth approaches the two and congratulates them. Sally smiles at Hal. It looks like she was impressed by what she saw. Beth and Andy kid him about it.

Shelley appeared in many sewing books when she was a model. In 1972, she appeared in the Book of Sewing. The book taught readers the basics of sewing and many things readers could do to create one-of-a-kind fashion pieces that would surely make them stand out. One of the outfits she modeled was a long madras dress with soft shoulders and puffy sleeves. A matching ribbon belt, a choker and a pair of pumps finished her look. With her hair simply slicked back, Shelley looked fresh as a daisy.

Bridesmaids '89

In 1989, Shelley along with Sela Ward, Brooke Adams and Stephanie Faracy starred in the telefilm Bridesmaids. It was about a group of friends who were reunited after a number of years at another friend's wedding. Audra Lindley and Jack Coleman was also in the cast. The movie was a staple on cable TV in the 1990s probably because it was a light comedy and was fun to watch.

Shelley appeared on many Sears catalog issues from the 1960s to the 1970s. In 1974, she appeared on many spreads throughout the Sears Wish Book for the 1974 Christmas Season catalog. In the spread called "Great Go-Togethers ...A Striped Knit Top And Cuffed Denim Jeans," Shelley modeled up-to-the-minute fashion separates that were designed to coordinate with one another and make it easy for any woman to look put together and be at her best.

Shelley wore the Striped Top that had a solid-colored pointed collar, ribbed V-inset at the neckline and the band-cuffs. The pullover top could be worn either out or tucked-in. She wore it over two pairs of colored trouser-style denim jeans with cuffed flared legs - first over a True Red version then over a Cream version. A matching belt and espadrilles finished her look. Shelley looked fab.

Late-Day Drama

Shelley appeared on many catalogs during her tenure as Supermodel. In 1967, 20-year-old Shelley appeared on the pages of Penneys Spring and Summer catalog. In the spread called "Late-Day Drama," Shelley modeled a dress that was perfect for those not-so-formal events that were held late in the day. The dramatic, elegant and romantic look was in vogue.

Shelley wore a dramatic, elegant and romantic all-lace shift dress that was unadorned except for a satin back bow of the same color as the dress. It was lined with the same color as well and had a back zipper. It came in a black version and a white version - Shelley wore both. The sleeveless shift had a high neckline in front that scooped in the back.

For The Crowning Touch, a whimsical light organza bow-with-floral tassels head piece was a recommended finishing touch for the lace dress. It came in white, green and hot pink versions - Shelley wore the white version. A Petite Bag of silk with a gold-tone metal handle was another recommended finishing touch. It came in pink, turquoise, pale green and black, which Shelley modeled. A pair of matching gloves gave the outfit a touch of class. And in both lace dress versions, Shelley looked faaaaaab.

Shelley is Tiffany

Shelley played Tiffany Welles, 
Angel no. 5, on Charlie's Angels

Shelley joined the cast of Charlie's Angels in 1979 and became an instant superstar. She was already a Supermodel at the time and was one of the highest-paid models in the world. Charlie's Angels became her big break into show business. She played Tiffany Welles and was dubbed as Charlie's classiest Angel. She should have been dubbed as Charlie's most intelligent Angel as well because not only was she gorgeous, she was (and is one) of the brightest women to ever enter show business.

Get Yourself Together

Shelley appeared on many ads during her modeling days. In 1977, she appeared in an ad for Aris Gloves with the tagline "Get Yourself Together" and it featured Aris' line of Applaud Gloves. They were the perfect finishing touch for any outfit during the cooler days of the year.

To continue, the annual Cutter baseball game has come up and both Andy and Hal are playing. Andy, who grew up in Cutter, is familiar with the yearly event. Hal, who has been practicing, is playing to impress Sally Tollhouse - as well as her brother and dad, Alton and Carl. Beth joins in to lend her support. She even got herself a baseball cap - with the Cutter Community Hospital logo on it. Hal is amused by Beth's fashion choice then spots Alton among the other team's players, swinging two bats. Beth spots Alton as well and is worried. Hal is worried himself.

Shelley appeared on many ads for Ship'n Shore when she was an active model. Ship'n Shore was a women's clothing line that specialized in affordable women's blouses. It was one of the big brands in the mid-20th century and was known to produce garments of good quality.

In 1965, Shelley appeared in an ad for Ship'n Shore which had the tagline "Lead The Ship'n Shore Life" and it featured blouses for the young misses of the day - blouses that were perfect gifts for the young misses of the day. The ad came out in December of that year and the ad featured tops that were up-to-the-minute and would have been appreciated by the young women at the time.

Shelley wore a couple of blouses in the ad. One of them was a blouse with a round neck and long cuffed sleeves with cross-stitch embroidery on the chest and cuffs. The other was a round-neck long-sleeved blouse in a vertical-striped fabric. It had dainty ruffling on the chest and cuffs. She was also featured in the ad munching chips with a male model. Shelley looked young and fresh in the ad.

Matching bracelets and a pair of slingback open-toe pimps finished her look. And Shelley looked ready for those great trips around town.

Shelley appeared in the Miss Clairol New Natural Wear ad campaign in 1972. It featured Clairol's new shampoo-in hair color that was "improved to keep that wonderfully natural, soft look, week after week, after week." The package included a "rich conditioning base, so sudsy it needs no after shampoo." And according to Shelley, "Even after 3 weeks, when I catch myself in the mirror, I like what I see." We do, too.

Shelley's third foray into series TV was Jack and Mike in 1986. The series was about a young yuppie couple trying to strike a balance between their careers and their marriage. Jackie (Shelley) was a star journalist in Chicago while Mike (Tom Mason) was her restaurateur husband, famous in the city for his innovative restaurants. The series tackled the many challenges couples encountered in the 1980s when women were beginning to become a permanent part of the workforce. The episode "Ready or Not" tackled the topic of unplanned pregnancies and how it would affect the life of a busy working couple, especially the woman. Jackie's pregnant and she and Mike are wondering how it will affect their lives.

Big Early Spring Sale

Shelley appeared on many catalogs, covers and spreads, throughout her modeling career. In 1978, she appeared on the cover of the Montgomery Ward Big Early Spring Sale catalog. It featured items that were currently on sale, as well as the 23 best buys of the season - which included Shelley's outfit on the cover, double-knit coordinates. Gold earrings and a gold necklace with an S pendant finished her look. And Shelley looked looked like a million dollars in her discounted duds.

To continue, an anxious Frank Bickum is in Cutter Community Hospital's waiting room. His wife Ginny is in surgery. Ginny was experiencing problems with her pregnancy and had to undergo an emergency C-section. Beth is performing the operation. Andy calls Frank in. The operation was a success and Frank is ushered in to get a peek at his newborn. Frank is beside himself. In a moment, Ginny is wheeled out of surgery. She is conscious, smiles at Frank and thanks Beth. Frank is very thankful as well. He glances at Beth and smiles. Beth is smiles back at him.

In the spread called "Catalog-Dressing," she modeled the Ultimate Rain Protection outfit. She wore L.L. Bean's hooded nylon pullover-and-pants suit. The seams of her outfit was welded to make sure nothing leaked in. Shelley looked FAB in her modern rainsuit.

With it, she wore the Long Skirt which was a 4-gore style with a 1 1/2-inch waistband. It was in a floral-printed fabric and had a back zipper closing. Matching open-toe footwear finished her look. And Shelley looked ready for those great evenings out in the town.

Shelley appeared on many fashion spreads throughout her modeling career, be it magazines, catalog and even books. In 1974, she appeared on the opening spread for Chapter 1 called "Proclaiming Yourself" for the book The Personal Touch. The book was part of a set called The Art of Sewing and was by the editors of Time Life  Books - this particular book talked about personal style. The chapter was about personal style, which Shelley definitely had and has.

An Indian Summer

In 1971, she appeared in the Penneys' ad with the tagline "Looks Like an Indian Summer!" which featured beachwear inspired by American Indian design elements. Shelley wore a two-piece bikini in rawhide which dried in a flash. Her outfit was accessorized with Indian accessories. Shelley looked stunning in her Indian-inspired beachwear.

To continue, Frank Bickum has stormed into the operating room of Cutter Community Hospital with a gun in hand and is threatening Beth. He doesn't trust her after she had amputated his arm to save his life at an oil rig accident in the past. Ginny, Franks wife, is experiencing complications in her pregnancy and is in need of an emergency C-section which Beth is about to perform. She tries to explain to Frank that she had no choice regarding his arm. He was pinned down, so she had to either amputate or leave him to die where he lay because the entire oil rig was about to blow up. She says that, similarly, Ginny need to undergo this operation or she is going to die. She then says that whatever he does, she will continue with this operation and turns her back on him and proceeds. Frank puts down the gun.
