Applique 1971 A

Shelley in a spread for Seventeen magazine, 1971

Shelley appeared in many issues of Seventeen magazine from 1964 to the 1970s. In 1971, she appeared in a spread for their September issue called "1, 2, 3, Applique" which featured the latest fashion craze that year, applique decorated outfits. Shelley modeled Butterick pattern 6413, a long-sleeved pullover and a pair of shorts (or knickers or pants, as desired) in black. On the right shoulder, a large red strawberry applique... A matching red belt by Elegant, a Betmar beret with Napier pins, black hose and Alder socks that rise past the knees finished her look. Shelley looked like one sophisticated teen.
