Shelley's third attempt at series TV came in the form of Jack and Mike (1986-1987.) The series was set in Chicago and was about a busy married yuppie couple who couldn't seem to find time for each other due to their busy schedules. Shelley played Jackie Shea, a journalist; while co-star Tom Mason played her husband Mike Brennan, a restaurateur. As Lee Winfrey, a television critic, wrote in 1986, "Hack's acting has improved since she spent a fleeting year as one of Charlie's Angels." He added, "As it is, Hack is now equipped to hold her own with Mason." Shelley's early '80s efforts on both stage and screen had finally paid off.
