Be Long By Day

Shelley in a spread for Simplicity Fashion News, March 1974

Shelley appeared in a spread on Simplicity Fashion News in March of 1974. The spread was called "Be Long By Day" and it featured what was then predicted by experts as the successor to jeans - long skirts. They could be worn with drawstring or smock tops or neat bellhop jackets. Shelley modeled Simplicity Pattern 5982, an A-shaped long skirt that could also be shortened to knee-length if preferred. She wore it with Simplicity Pattern 5802, a shirt with forward shoulder seams and an ascot tie. A pair of matching sandals, a belt and a straw hat finished her look. Shelley looked summer ready.
