In February of 1980, Shelley attended the event The Love Boat Honors Helen Hayes at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. The event, which honored The First Lady of Broadway, was a star studded affair, attended by the biggest stars of television, stage and the movies. Aside from Shelley, fellow Charlie's Angels Jaclyn Smith and Cheryl Ladd were in attendance. The Love Boat cast was naturally there, as well as Loni Anderson, Joyce DeWitt, Mark Harmon, Dennis Cole, Melissa Gilbert, Jimmy Baio, Michele Lee, Britt Ekland, Bobby Sherman, Phyllis Diller, Phil Shivers and Jane Wyman.

Shelley attended the event with her constant date at the time, writer John Leone, and was a standout that night. She wore a sexy gold form-fitting gown with a halter neckline and a bare back. The gown was similar to the body-hugging number she wore on the Charlie's Angels episode "Dancin' Angels" but was cut totally different. The gown was held together by straps that sexily crisscrossed her back. Simple gold jewelry and a gold clutch finished her outfit. With minimal-look makeup and straight and smooth hair, Shelley was every inch a glamorous Hollywood superstar babe.
