Shelley appeared in many sewing books when she was a model. In 1972, she appeared in the Book of Sewing. The book taught readers the basics of sewing and many things readers could do to create one-of-a-kind fashion pieces that would surely make them stand out. It said that "tiny patterns seem to reduce your figure size in general, while top interest carries the eye away from wide hips." Shelley, of course, was a standout no matter what she wore.
