Letter-Perfect

a closeup of Shelley from McCall's magazine, 1974

Shelley appeared on many spreads for McCall's magazine in the 1970s and 1980s. In 1974, she appeared in the spread called "Letter-Perfect Looks for Spring." It featured flattering pastel suits that anyone could sew themselves. They were all made from easy-care washable synthetic fabrics, had figure-flattering hip-length jackets and summer-friendly short sleeves. Shelley wore McCall's pattern no. 3989, a beige suit with an A-line skirt and a cardigan-style jacket. A ribbon-collared blouse, a gold-buckled white belt and open-toed footwear completed her look. A straw fedora hat with a white trim, white button earrings and white bracelets finished her look. Shelley looked picture-perfect.
