Shelley was one of the highest paid models in the 1970s. She was featured in the Starstyle section of Mademoiselle mag's June 1978 issue. She was already a Supermodel by then and was known as THE Charlie Girl. The writeup explained the brand of beauty she had - "all-American and wholesome... you just like her, that's it." It described her personal style as "more Frost than Ferlinghetti, more Wyeth than Warhol. Clean. Classic. Unfettered." She arrived at the Patrick Demarchelier's studio in a oversized shirt over a printed skirt (an outfit she had worn in a previous photo shoot), boots and a battered canvas tackle bag she brought with her everywhere. When she's not in front of the camera, she wore plain gold-rimmed glasses. Shelley's personal wardrobe consisted of pieces "that'll last forever" and she preferred natural fabrics like cotton, silk and wool.
