Shelley became a Hollywood superstar in 1979 when she joined the cast of the hit series Charlie's Angels. She was already a Supermodel when she joined the cast; she was known worldwide as THE Charlie Girl from the Revlon Charlie commercials and print ads. But becoming a Charlie's Angel was different. Shelley suddenly found herself in unfamiliar territory - rock star territory. "The thing is I haven't even done anything yet. I've been recognized before and I've signed autographs before but I get a part and suddenly find myself in the fishbowl," said Shelley. Suddenly her beauty routine, her personal and academic background, her lifestyle, and even her boyfriends were of interest to the public. Even her culinary endeavors were of interest.
Shelley, along with other celebrities, was featured in the Campbell Soup Company's 1985 recipe booklet called Celebrity Chefs. The booklet was a promotional item by the Campbell Soup Company and contained "The Favorite Recipes Of" various celebrities. A similarly titled booklet came out the year before, in 1984, with a different set of celebrities. The 1985 booklet featured "The Favorite Recipes Of" - comedians/actors Kaye Ballard, David Brenner, Phyllis Diller, Ann Meara, and Marilyn Michaels - TV hosts Dick Cavett, and Virginia Graham - actors Linda Blair, John Gabriel, Shelley Hack, Anne Jackson & Eli Wallach - singers Suzette Charles, James Coco, Sergio Franchi, Richie Haven, Gladys Knight, and Maureen McGovern - musicians/entertainers Tessie O'Shea, and Henny Youngman - dancer Geoffrey Holder - sportsman Tug McGraw - writers Fern Michaels, and George Plimpton - and film critic Rex Reed. In the booklet, Shelley shared one of her favorite recipes, Baked Stuffed Pineapple. It was a recipe that made 6 to 8 servings. It required stovetop preparation as well as oven baking. It's a dessert that would be a wonderful addition to any holiday table.
