Top Model

a portrait of Shelley circa 1974

In the '60s and '70s, Shelley was represented by Ford Models Inc. Initially, she worked as a part-time model (school was her priority.) In fact, Eileen Ford once said that Shelley only worked during her summer vacations. But as soon as she finished, Shelley signed on full-time with Ford and became an in-demand model - doing magazine and television work. By 1974, she was one of the top models in the world. 1976 however was a turning point in Shelley's career as a model. She jumped to Supermodel status after she landed an exclusive contract with Revlon as the image model and spokesperson of their Charlie line. The brand, as well as Shelley, has since become icons.
