Shelley began her acting career in 1977 when she appeared in the Academy-Award-winning film Annie Hall. She followed that up with a leading lady role in If Ever I See You Again in 1978. She then made guest appearances in the TV series Married: The First Year and the film Time After Time (as voice over.) She later filmed Death Car on the Freeway, then got her big break via Charlie's Angels.
