Shelley appeared in many ads for Alexander's in the 1970s. Alexander's was a department store chain that included 16 stores at its peak. It catered to well-to-do middle class customers and offered designer clothing and high-quality private label goods at discounted prices. During its heyday, it had more sales per square foot than any other department store in the US.
