Bee Gees and THE Charlie Girl

Shelley on the back cover
of a 1979 Bee Gees record sleeve
(released in Spain)

Shelley was THE quintessential Charlie Girl and appeared in many, many ads as well as promotional materials for the brand. In 1979, she appeared on the record sleeve of a Bee Gees promo single/record which was released in Spain. The 7" 45 rpm record contained two Bee Gees songs. Side A contained the monster hit "Too Much Heaven"; and Side B contained the lesser known hit "Rest Your Love On Me". The front cover of the record sleeve featured a promo pic of the Bee Gees - brothers Robin, Barry and Maurice Gibb. The back cover of the record sleeve featured Shelley in an ad promoting the Charlie fragrance and Charlie cosmetics.

On the back cover, three images of Shelley as THE fabulous Charlie Girl appeared. Shelley appeared as The Sporty Charlie Girl in tennis whites, white sneakers and socks, white wrist bands, a blue visor plus a tennis racket and ball in hand. Shelley appeared as The Working Charlie Girl in a white blouse and pants ensemble topped with a blue blazer and accessorized with a red ribbon around the neck and a golden pin on the lapel. Her look was finished with a stylish pair of strappy white heels. And Shelley appeared as THE fun-loving Charlie Girl in a blue spaghetti strap evening jumper finished with a gold metallic sash and gold metallic strappy heels and accessorized with a golden bangle and earrings set. Below her images were descriptions in Spanish of THE ultimate Charlie Girl which translates as:

Charlie is the active young woman
who loves to play, work and have fun,
just like you.

Charlie has everything you need for every moment,
makeup and fragrances,
for your free-spirited way of living.
