In 1979, Shelley joined the cast of the biggest show on TV, Charlie's Angels, as the newest Angel - joining incumbent Angels Jaclyn Smith and Cheryl Ladd. Shelley received the same amount of attention Cheryl Ladd got when she joined the series two years prior; but Shelley had a harder time earning her wings. Why? Well, because early in the season, they didn't give her anything to say or do (except on her 2nd episode). Shelley's lines were deliberately cut down. Shelley's first episode "Love Boat Angels" topped the Nielsen ratings. Her second episode, "Angels Go Truckin'," ranked among the Top 10 for the week. Her 3rd and 4th episodes ranked in the top 10 as well. Then it began to spiral down. When they finally gave her her fair share of lines, it was too late. Viewers had lost interest. Which was a shame because she did so well in her later episodes. Tanya Roberts was brought in the next season; but the show had run its course. It was cancelled after that season.
