The magazine/booklet featured the latest patterns Simplicity had come up with at the time. It also showed readers what they could do with them and how to play around with them by using fabrics and trims to personalize their fashion must-haves.

In the spread under "Fashion Focus 7" called "Make A Really Pretty
Dress", she modeled Simplicity Pattern 5073, a mini tent-dress. The
spread encouraged young women to experiment with fashion and break
fashion rules - like wearing a mini dress with pants or jeans. And
that's exactly what Shelley wore, her tent-dress over a pair of pants
(Simplicity Pattern 5145). She was breaking fashion rules.
